Day 3

Another day in paradise. We got to sleep in a bit - breakfast at 9! After a few of us ordered Salami omelets, we quickly learned that salami here in Montenegro is actually bologna...but never fear! There is always a pile of bread close by ready to fill you up in case you don't like the meal.

On our walk toward the beach, we passed lots of courts for different sports: soccer, basketball, tennis, you name it! Then it was finally time for some beach adventures! Word of warning: sand is non-existent over here. The beaches are full of rocks, rocks, and more rocks. Some of the team stayed by the sea, and the rest went to lay by the pool. The pool was kind of like some of the bathrooms here; you must pay to use them. After soaking up the sun, swimming a bit, and seeing one to many men in skin tight speedos, we all ventured out toward to sea to take some team pictures in the water. For anyone that knows me, I am not a fan of open waters, so this was not an easy feat for me at all. The rocky bottom of the sea didn't make it any easier either!

The only tennis courts I ever saw were clay courts!

Hooray for speedos
Heading into the Adriatic Sea
Two of my favorites: Lisa and Rachel

Some of the team decided they would swim out to the buoy (obviously not me!), and the rest of us headed back up to the beach/pool. Shortly after, the Adriatic Sea got the best of Shelly. Some sea anemone got stuck in her foot, and she also emerged with some sort of sting or bite on her butt. Mama Sox (Madison's mom) became Doctor Sox and performed surgery on the anemone, then we were on our way back to the hotel to eat lunch.

We grabbed some cards before heading back to the pool, where we spent the rest of the afternoon outside but under shade. I quickly fell asleep (like usual) and was woken up by Coach Robby gathering us all up to do a pool workout in the indoor pool. Being the wonderful swimmer that I am (ha!), I was super enthusiastic about this. Nevertheless, it was actually really fun and I want to do more of those! On our way back, we gave a stray dog some water...he was so cute! We went back to the hotel to watch Bridesmaids, and then I took another nap after a quick storm passed through.

Before leaving for the scrimmage, I was able to go outside with Coach Robby to get some setting work in with the international ball. I felt much better after getting in those touches, and our second match of the trip went much better than the first. We won in three and started clicking and flowing more naturally. It was a tremendous difference from the night before, personally and otherwise.

Tomorrow, we say goodbye to Bar and start our long journey to Pula, Croatia for the big tournament.
